Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
Dear families,
It has been another busy week at Christ’s College Finchley, with Tuesday seeing our Friendship Afternoon for our incoming Year 7 pupils and families. It was a delight to welcome our new pupils and their parents and to hear how excited they are to be joining us. The Year 6 pupils gained their first experience of lessons at CCF with taster sessions run by a number of teachers including in Mandarin and Computer Science, and parents were welcomed by Ms Ireland, Head of Year 7/Transition, and me to hear key information to support pupils’ transition to secondary school. As ever, our pupils were our best assets and I am grateful to the Year 7 and 8 pupils, and Year 11 prefects, who supported, and particularly to Caspian and Stacey who spoke to parents about their experiences starting at CCF last September. The parents I spoke to were incredibly grateful that we run such an extensive transition programme and thrilled that their child will be joining us in September.
We had an unplanned fire drill on Wednesday and pupils were impressive in how they left the building and lined up during the drill. It took longer than expected to ensure that the building was safe for pupils to return to and I am grateful to all pupils for their maturity in understanding the need to remain lined up in silence during these drills. We now know that the alarm was triggered because an aerosol was used and I would like to remind parents and carers that this is why aerosols are banned at school and to ensure that your child is not bringing aerosols or sprays into school.
On Monday our dancers took part in the Barnet Dance Festival and I know Ms Sugden, who runs our dance club, was delighted with their performances and the pupils are rightly proud of how well they danced and how well they worked together to ensure their performance was so successful.
On Tuesday we hosted an external reviewer, Malcolm Willis, who looked at inclusion and the sixth form at CCF. Mr Willis was very impressed with what he saw and particularly with the pupils he spoke to as part of the visit. The pupils were keen to tell Mr Willis how much they appreciate the high-quality teaching they receive and unanimously agreed that they would recommend CCF to others. Visits by external reviewers is a vital part of our strategy of continual development at CCF and I am grateful to the staff and pupils involved in the visit.
A reminder that the next Parent Voice meeting will take place on Tuesday 24th March 2026 6-7pm remotely; please email info@ccfplus.com if you would like to attend and we will share the link with you.
To those of you celebrating Ramadan, I would like to wish you Eid Mubarak for next week and wish you and your families a very happy and joyous Eid.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Dr Ruth Hill
