Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
Dear families,
It has been lovely to see how well pupils have settled into the new academic year and I would like to thank families for your continued support with ensuring that pupils arrive ready for school before 8.35am and wearing the correct uniform. Our updated behaviour policy uses the language of pupils being ready, respectful and safe and Mr Hodges, Deputy Headteacher, has been talking to pupils about this in assembly this week. One change this year is that fire exits are only to be used in emergencies: pupils should enter and leave the main building through the doors at the east or west entrance or canteen only.
I have shared before that we are having the roof over the DT block replaced and, as can be the case with any building work, there have been a few issues and today we had an unscheduled fire alarm caused by smoke from a tool they were using. Pupils behaved impeccably during the evacuation; however they deserve better than to have their lessons disrupted and we are meeting with the roofing company to make clear that such disruption is unacceptable.
Open Evening - Tuesday 16th September and late start Wednesday 17th September
A reminder that our annual Open Evening takes place on Tuesday 16th September 2025 and pupils will be dismissed after period 4 to allow staff time to set up for the event. Pupils in Years 10-13 can leave at 1.30pm (or they can stay and have lunch and leave at 2.05pm) and pupils in Years 7-9 will leave at 2.05pm.
On Wednesday 17th September 2025 there will be a late start and pupils should arrive from 11am ready for period 3 at 11.30am.
Events
Our first PFA event, Family Bingo, takes place on Friday 26th September 2025 and I look forward to seeing families for what promises to be an excellent evening.
I would like to remind parents and carers that the calendar is available on our website (click here) and there are a number of opportunities to get involved including joining our PFA, and this year there are also scheduled open mornings to allow parents of current pupils to visit our school for a tour.
Our Parent Voice gives me the opportunity to discuss issues affecting the school community and provides us with a strong parental perspective regarding prospective new policies or how procedures are implemented across the school. Members of the Parent Voice are clear that it is not a forum to discuss individual pupils but is a place where parents can set the agenda. Please email info@ccfplus.com to sign up to Parent Voice, PFA or the open mornings.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Dr Ruth Hill
