Dear Parents,
I know that residents in and around West Finchley will be concerned following two serious local incidents over the past week.
I understand that this will be concerning for residents who, like me, are questioning what this means for community safety.
I want to reassure you that I have been in constant contact with the local police who have acted swiftly in making arrests and increasing the number of local patrols. I have also written to the Home Office asking for a renewed policing plan and an uplift in resources for the local area.
I am committed to ensuring that the police hear concerns from residents directly and act upon them. I am pleased to have secured an all-residents online Q&A session with senior police officers.

Our Summer Fair returns for the sixth time. This show is tightly focussed on helping London parents find the right senior school for their child and prepare for entry.

Every year the Summer Fair helps thousands of parents gain clarity, confidence and perspective as they consider independent schools and make decisions about their child’s future education.
The show gives parents the opportunity for unhurried, meaningful 1-1 conversations with admissions leaders, headteachers and experienced advisors, helping them to identify the right school choices and be confident of the route forward.
Parents leave the show with a clear understanding of admissions timelines, assessment expectations, and opportunities for bursaries and scholarships, plus a deeper sense that they have found the school that will truly suit their child.

Supporting LGBTQ+ people at risk of suicide: 12 May 9.30am – 1pm online
Risk of suicide is higher for people in LGBTQ+ communities. Discrimination, isolation and barriers to affirmative healthcare increase suicide risk. Rejection from family members and friends leads to isolation if no other support networks are in place. This workshop equips practitioners to understand the unique risk factors that LGBTQ+ face and develop the skills and confidence to support LGBTQ+ people through a suicidal episode.
You will gain an understanding of:
§ Attitudes and assumptions
§ What causes suicidal ideation
§ Additional risk factors for LGBTQ+ people
§ Signs that someone is at risk
§ How to implement a safety plan
LGBTQ+ Mental Health Awareness 16 June 10am – 12.30pm online
LGBTQ+ people are over-represented in mental health services; are more likely to self-harm; and to attempt suicide. Yet they often seek support at a later stage or choose not to access services at all. LGBTQ+ Mental Health Awareness is designed to support practitioners and clinicians to understand why this is and identify strategies to develop inclusive practice.
You will gain an understanding of:
• Gender identity and the non-binary framework
• Mental health risk and prevalence
• The history and impact of pathologisation
• Terminology and gender neutral language
• Strategies for inclusive practice

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with young people and have a passion for football. Whether students are studying sports science, physical education, or simply love the game, this could be a fantastic way for them to gain hands-on coaching experience while giving back to the community.
