Dear families,

We are now well into exam season and this week has seen the first whole-cohort exam for Year 11 pupils, as well as a number of other Year 11 and Year 13 exams. Pupils have been impressive with their engagement in masterclasses and their conduct during the exam period and I would like to thank families for your continued support at what I know can be a stressful time.

Pupils in Year 10 received their mock examination results on Monday afternoon and it was a lovely celebration of their hard work and a time to consider how they may wish to make changes over the coming year. Thank you to parents of Year 10 pupils who attended parents’ evening on Wednesday and to Mr Frate, Head of Year 10, for overseeing the evening. The pupils should be very proud of their achievements and we know they will continue to work hard and ‘advance all the way’.

We have had a number of external visitors to the school this week, including our school improvement partner, Mr Willis, on Tuesday, and all the headteachers of Barnet secondary schools yesterday. Our visitors were overwhelmingly positive about our school and particularly how helpful and courteous our pupils were during the visit. 

The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill has now been made into law, including a ban on smartphones in schools in England. The ruling means that pupils are not allowed access to mobile phones during the school day. I would like to remind families that phones are already banned at CCF and any pupil seen with a phone will have it confiscated. I shared with parents/carers last term that we are changing our mobile phone policy from September 2026 and smartphones will be banned items for our incoming Year 7 pupils, with the potential to extend this to other year groups. I would also remind parents and carers to regularly check your child’s phone and speak with them about the importance of using smart phones and social media appropriately. Should phones and/or social media cause issues within the school, we will take a position and follow our behaviour policy (click here to read the school’s behaviour policy). 

Next week is the final week of this half term and Friday 22 May 2026 will be a non-uniform day, with a donation of £2 requested via ParentPay for those families who have not already donated. The day will be a normal school day and therefore pupils must dress appropriately, for example, pupils must wear clothing that covers their midriff and avoid strappy tops and high-heeled shoes. Any make-up or jewellery must be subtle and there can be no offensive logos/wording on clothing. Should pupils arrive in clothing that is not appropriate, we will ask families to drop off a change of clothes and pupils will be out of circulation until they are able to change.
