Hiking the Isle of White for the Mark Evison Foundation
A group of students from our own Christ's College Finchley are taking on a tough hike around the Isle of Wight to support the Mark Evison Foundation, a charity that raises awareness about mental health and funds support for young people in need. Donations go directly toward counselling, education, and early intervention services. This charity is extremely vital for helping people in need and we think it is a great cause to be a part of.
Our Group, Mordecai, Senam and Jake in Year 12 are passionate about mental health and for that reason we’ve decided to hike 70-miles of the Isle of Wight coastal path to raise money and awareness for the foundation and the vital work they do. We decided on the Isle of Wight as hiking around the whole perimeter is an extremely difficult challenge and is in place to push us out of our comfort zone and force us to use our own thinking skills to come up with the most optimal route to journey with.
You can support us by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/page/isleofwight, or simply by sharing our story to spread awareness and shine the light to more people about what this charity really does to help. Every donation and share makes a huge difference to what we are trying to achieve.
Thank you.
Science Club Takes on the Science Museum
Yesterday I was lucky enough to take the members of Science Club out to the Science Museum in South Kensington. They were a pleasure to take, engaging with all of the exhibits and representing our school in its best light. Two Year 8s wrote their own review of the trip:
"The science club trip to the Science Museum was really cool. I loved it so much. I loved the exhibits from medicine, flight and making the modern world, to engineers and science city. Our favourite was science city because it had a lot of pretty clocks and there were moving machines that you could interact with. We also liked the flight section because it had loads of unique plane designs and cool planes. There was also a cute cartoon cat that told us to do stuff like spin like a turbine! We saw miniature versions of an airport with tiny people, planes, and cars, and a model hospital which we could interact with too.
Our amazing teacher (Miss Rogers) prepared us a really fun scavenger hunt where we had to look for exhibits and answer the questions about them. It helped us explore the museum and see a wide range of different things. We all recommend going there for a trip this summer! "
