Lime Bikes and School Travel
Pupils are not permitted to use Lime bikes for travel to or from school.
This decision has been made after careful consideration of several factors, including:
Safety Concerns: While we recognise the convenience of Lime bikes, their use by pupils often raises safety concerns regarding helmet use, traffic awareness, and appropriate riding practices on busy roads.
Parking and Congestion: The parking of Lime bikes around the school premises has led to congestion and obstruction, posing a challenge for safe access to and from the site.
Age Restrictions and Liability: Lime's terms and conditions typically require users to be 18 years or older, or at least 16 with parental consent, and these bikes are not designed for shared use or for transporting multiple riders. Furthermore, as Lime bikes are privately rented vehicles, the school cannot assume responsibility or liability for their use by pupils.
We understand that some pupils may have been using these bikes for their commute, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us enforce this new policy. We encourage you to discuss alternative travel arrangements with your child, such as walking, cycling their own bike (with appropriate safety gear), or using public transport.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support in ensuring a safe environment for all our pupils.

Update on Support Plans for Students with Additional Needs
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing tailored support for every student, we are making a change to the way we document and implement support strategies for pupils with additional needs.
From the start of next academic year, our school will begin transitioning from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to a Know Me, Teach Me, Support Me approach. This new approach is designed to be a concise and practical method to clearly outline specific strategies for teachers in the classroom to support your child’s learning and wellbeing.
Please note that some pupils will continue to have an IEP if the school determines that a more detailed plan remains appropriate for their level of need. This will typically be the case where external agency involvement, more complex needs, or statutory plans (such as EHCPs) are in place.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss how this change affects your child specifically, please don’t hesitate to contact the SENCo.
Kind regards
Miss Pullan
Ninja Sword Surrender Scheme
We would like to draw your attention to the Ninja Sword Surrender Scheme which is up and running now until 31st July 2025.
The Home Office announced a new legislative measure prohibiting the possession of Ninja Swords as part of their manifesto of reducing knife crime by half in 10 years. Under this amendment, “ninja swords”—defined as short, bladed weapons with curved or straight edges commonly associated with stealth or martial aesthetics—are added to the list of prohibited items. The legislation comes into force on the 1 August 2025.
As a result of this new Legislation the Government has introduced a voluntary Surrender Scheme for Ninja Swords, similar to that run for the Zombie style knives, and is running from 1st July to 31st July.
Ninja swords can be voluntarily surrendered at either Colindale or Wembley police station for a £5 compensation, if they are able to prove ownership. Alternatively there are knife “bins” where knives can be deposited – Currently Word 4 Weapons Charity have approximately 50 Knife Bins within London. The location of the local bins are shown below.
