Going all in(clusive) means speaking up against actions & words that are degrading and insulting. Going all In (clusive) is part of an education effort that showcases that language informs attitudes and attitudes impact actions.
Spread the Word to End the Word is a campaign, 15 years in the making, designed to raise awareness of the inequalities of people with physical or intellectual disabilities.
Spread the Word To End The Word was created to commit and acknowledge the hurt caused by disparaging words and actions towards people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) still face exclusion, which prevents us from building genuinely inclusive, where we can learn and grow together.
The wrong and demeaning use of the R-word in conversations, while less prevalent, is still used, along with other derogatory language words. Words matter because they hold the power to shape perceptions, influence emotions, and drive actions. Our language can foster understanding, empathy, and unity or perpetuate stereotypes, division, and discrimination. Choosing words carefully is essential for effective communication and a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Respectful and inclusive words and actions are essential to the movement for the dignity and humanity of people with intellectual disabilities. You can support our efforts to spread inclusion.
