AP Literature
“Stories are for eternity, when memory is erased, when there is nothing to remember except the story.”
-Tim O'Brien, The Things They Carried
Welcome to AP Literature!
I've taught AP Lit a long time... I know that many of you are coming into this year concerned and worried about school and you wonder if the rigor of an AP class is right for you at this point in time. The answer is, I can't tell you. I don't know how to advise you until I know you. Talk to me though, and we might figure it out.
I do know, however, that I have done this a long time, and I am pretty good at my job. You might not trust me yet, but I hope that you will soon. I am good with technology and I am good at Literature. I am also a good teacher (that's me, bragging about myself!). I have taught AP Lit for TWELVE years, so give me a chance and I won't let you fall (Ask Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Hayes, I taught them both in AP Lit!). If you are willing to work, I am willing to work twice as hard than you do, and that's a challenge.
I love teaching seniors. I love teaching AP Lit. And we're in this thing together. Everything is spelled out in the syllabus, which you can access at the bottom of this website in the Google Drive Folder.
Please take a minute to complete the forms below. One is for you, the student, and one is for your parent/guardian.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Sumerlin
