In Rome in 1992, a court considered a woman’s clothing a sign of her consent in a sexual assault. Using her clothing as a weapon, the court said the tightness of her jeans showed that her 45-year-old driving instructor could not have pulled her pants off himself, suggesting that she must have helped him take them off and that this gesture was an act of consent.
