The College of Industrial Technology participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 18, 2026, at the CBSUA–Calabanga CIT Building. The activity promoted disaster preparedness through safety instructions, the Duck, Cover, and Hold simulation, and an organized evacuation.

Participants also attended a fire safety orientation and extinguisher demonstration, enhancing their emergency response skills. The success of the drill was made possible through the cooperation of faculty, students, and partner units, reinforcing the importance of preparedness, awareness, and teamwork in ensuring safety during emergencies.

𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘵: 

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) continues to expand its global footprint as it welcomes Mr. Shawn Ethier, Director for Global Partnerships of New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), to its Pili Main Campus on February 26, 2026.

The visit aims to explore potential areas of collaboration between CBSUA and NBCC, particularly in internationalization initiatives, faculty and student mobility, joint research projects, and academic exchange programs. The meeting was held in the Boardroom, 3rd Floor of the New Administrative Center, CBSUA, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

University officials and key stakeholders attended the discussion, which marks a significant step toward strengthening international partnerships and creating broader global opportunities for the academic community.

With dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, 445 COT students of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture–Calabanga earned Dean’s List honors for the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026.

The Recognition Ceremony, held on February 13, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, brought together students, parents, faculty members, and university officials to honor scholars who achieved the required GPA across various programs, including BSHM – 396 and BSIT – 49.

Campus Administrator Dr. Ernesto D. Doloso, Jr. highlighted that the recognition goes beyond academic grades, symbolizing perseverance, sacrifice, and the steadfast support of families and mentors.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Melinda Parro-Pan further emphasized that the event celebrates not only scholastic achievement but also the discipline, character, and integrity essential in shaping future-ready professionals.

From aspiring educators and technologists to students in hospitality and the sciences, the awardees exemplified that academic success is built on consistent effort — choosing each day to learn, to endure, and to excel.

Faculty members from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) – Calabanga Campus participated in the recently conducted Farmers Field School on the Palay Check System and Engine Repair in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Calabanga. The activity aimed to enhance the technical knowledge and skills of local farmers and agricultural equipment operators. Participating from CBSUA-Calabanga were Ms. Jamille Ann Arena, Mr. Armel Tabinas, Mr. Aldrin Cornelio, Mr. Noel Romualdo, and Mr. Michael Bual, who shared their expertise on the Palay Check System and provided a comprehensive discussion on the basic troubleshooting of small engines, particularly tractors used in farming operations.

The activity highlighted the importance of proper equipment handling, safety practices, and basic maintenance procedures to help prevent accidents, reduce equipment damage, and improve the overall efficiency of agricultural operations. Through this initiative, CBSUA-Calabanga reaffirmed its commitment to community engagement and agricultural extension by supporting capacity-building efforts for the local farming community in partnership with the LGU of Calabanga.

The activity is mandated for all third-year BS Industrial Technology (BSIT) students.

The seminar, which was "𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬," began with a call for excellence. After the opening remarks by COT Dean Dr. Jennifer V. Perez, followed by an inspirational message by Campus Administrator 𝘋𝘳. 𝘌𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰 𝘋. 𝘋𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘰, 𝘑𝘳., lectures followed to fill the gap between academic study and industry needs.

Towards this purpose, the morning sessions were intended for the development of the soft skills necessary for success in any technical field of study. In this area, Dr. Ivy B. Galon-Moriño, Guidance Councilor, spearheaded the development of the topic on Workplace Ethics and Professional Conduct. This was followed by an enlightening discussion on Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity presented by Peace Corps Volunteer Ms. Anabelle Nelson.

During the afternoon, the main focus of the topic was protection for the employees concerning physical and mental aspects. Furthermore, the lecture on Basic Occupational Safety and Health focused on the lecturer, Prof. Ariel Alemania (BSIT, Faculty). He clarified to the participants that safety is the complete physical, mental, and social state of well-being and that safety is a fundamental right of every individual and should be demanded from the employer.

Also, basic life-saving skills were demonstrated in the program. These are considered crucial. On behalf of Arminda A. Zamudio, RN, the First Aid and Basic Life Support segment was facilitated by Twain Portugal Sumaoang (former RCY president), and Ludolf Rull Fabor, representatives of the Red Cross Youth. The students were given hands-on instruction and experience in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-External Chest Compression) and emergency procedures.

As the seminar concluded, Mr. Malthus C. Fabico, MAT, BSIT Program Chairperson, reminded the students to 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 they acquired throughout the day in their upcoming deployment. He advised the students to 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 with everything they learned to ensure success in their future duties.

The meeting was conducted together with Prof. Salvacion A. The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Calabanga successfully hosted a crucial BSHM Training in Life-Saving Interventions on 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 11, 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Building. Focused on preparing future hospitality professionals for emergencies, this comprehensive workshop equipped students with the critical skills needed during "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫"— the vital period following a traumatic injury when prompt intervention can significantly improve outcomes.

The event commenced with a solemn Invocation and the singing of the National Anthem, setting a serious and focused tone for the intensive day ahead.

The core of the program was the Training-Workshop led by distinguished expert CDR Raul Agrade PCGA and COMMODORE IVAN E. ROLDAN PCG. These esteemed figures delivered two extensive sessions, ensuring thorough learning and practical application of techniques.

Participants engaged in hands-on training across a range of vital topics, including Water Search and Rescue, Knot Tying, CPR (ECC), Bandaging, Moving and Lifting, Spine Board Management, and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction).

These combined competencies provided students with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to stabilize victims, manage life-threatening situations (like cardiac arrest or airway obstruction), secure and safely transport injured individuals, and handle aquatic emergencies. The training is paramount for turning students into proficient first responders in diverse emergency scenarios, a high-value competency in the service and tourism sectors.

The practical and highly-detailed nature of the training provided BSHM students with a robust foundation in emergency response, transitioning theoretical knowledge into actionable, life-saving capabilities. The skills acquired ensure that CBSUA graduates will enter the workforce not just as skilled professionals, but also as responsible, prepared first responders.

On December 2, 2025, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – Calabanga Campus launched the One-Day Entrepreneurship Bazaar: Trade Expo, organized by the College of Technology (COT) with active participation from Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students.

The event provided students a hands-on platform to showcase their entrepreneurial skills, hospitality expertise, and business acumen. On November 18, 2025, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – Calabanga Campus hosted the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) screening with delegates from Taiwan.

BSIT and other technology students were interviewed for the six-month fully funded internship in partnership with Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) and Kun Shan University (KSU), gaining academic, technical, and cultural training. Guidance on program requirements and documentation was provided by CBSUA officials.

The College of Industrial Technology (COT) is gearing up for the much-anticipated 2025 Intramurals, with preparations reaching their final stretch following the General Assembly held on October 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, at the CBSUA Calabanga Social Hall.

The event, facilitated by the Technology Students Council (TSC) and moderated by Sir Ariel Alemania, brought together the entire COT community, including faculty members led by Dr. Jenifer V Perez, DHM, College Dean, Sir Francis Carlo Camata, MEng, BSIT Chairperson, Ma'am Dyanara B. Azaña, BSHM Chairperson, student leaders, and representatives from all programs. COT instructors were also in attendance to help facilitate and manage the students, ensuring the smooth flow of the assembly.

During the session, several key milestones were established to guide the college’s preparations toward a successful and well-organized participation in this year’s intramurals. Among the highlights was the comprehensive planning of activities, emphasizing teamwork, coordination, and effective communication across committees to guarantee the success of every event.

One of the exciting moments of the assembly was the presentation and approval of the official COT T-shirt design, which will serve as a symbol of unity and pride among students and faculty members alike. The shirt embodies the collective identity of COT—strong, proud, and united.

Additionally, updates on the athlete search and recruitment process were discussed. Each program—Electronics, Hospitality Management, Automotive, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC), and Electrical—was encouraged to finalize their lineups and ensure their best representatives are ready to compete and bring honor to the college.

The event concluded with a message of encouragement for everyone to continue their active participation and cooperation in the coming weeks leading to the intramurals. The assembly successfully captured the spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm that defines the COT community.

The College of Technology (COT) successfully commenced its 2-day Re-orientation Seminar with a series of engaging discussions and meaningful insights on Day 1.

In the morning session, Mr. Jerome Hipolito, MAEd, facilitated a Module Development Workshop, equipping faculty members with strategies to enhance their instructional materials and align them with current academic standards.

The afternoon session was led by Ms. Gladdy Ann Sarate, RPm, who inspired the participants to rethink leadership—not merely as a position of authority, but as a form of everyday influence that each educator can exercise in their roles.

Adding significance to the event, Dr. Ernesto D. Doloso, Jr., Campus Administrator, delivered a message highlighting the importance of mutual respect and shared responsibilities among colleagues, fostering a collaborative work culture.

As the day concluded, Dr. Jennifer V. Perez, Dean of the College of Technology, reminded everyone to stay safe and take preventive measures in preparation for the approaching Typhoon Opong, underscoring the value of preparedness and collective care.

Day 1 ended with renewed commitment among faculty members to improve academic delivery, strengthen leadership by influence, and uphold unity in facing challenges together.

The 2nd day of the event, held on September 25, 2025, at Kiudkad, Siruma, brought enriching discussions and meaningful engagements that strengthened the bond among faculty members. The serene setting provided an ideal backdrop for reflective learning, where participants actively exchanged insights on academic leadership, instructional strategies, and collaborative practices. Beyond the sessions, the day also highlighted the value of camaraderie and unity, reinforcing the shared commitment of the COT faculty to uphold excellence and teamwork in fulfilling the college’s mission.  

The College of Technology (COT) Heads, along with faculty members holding administrative designations, actively participated in the ISO Re-orientation on Quality Management System (QMS) 19001 Standard held last September 23, 2025, at the College Library from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. They attended the activity along with other campus-designated officials.

The event was conducted in preparation for the upcoming Internal Audit on (insert date) and External Audit on (insert date). The re-orientation aimed to refresh and strengthen the participants’ understanding of QMS standards, ensuring compliance and readiness for the forthcoming evaluations.

Through their attendance, the COT leaders and campus officials demonstrated their commitment to upholding quality assurance practices and fostering continuous improvement in academic and administrative processes.

On September 7, 2025, the College of Industrial Technology (COT) proudly participated in the Calabanga Grand Civic Parade as part of the festivities for the Calabanga Town Fiesta.

The delegation was led by College Dean - Dr. Jennifer V. Perez, together with our Campus Administrator - Dr. Jeremy D. Doloso Jr., joined by faculty, staff, and students who marched with pride and enthusiasm. Their presence reflected not only school spirit but also the college’s unity and active involvement in community traditions.

The participation highlighted COT’s strong connection with the local community and its commitment to supporting the preservation of culture, tradition, and camaraderie through the town’s annual celebration. 

The College of Industrial Technology (COT) conducted its departmental meeting on the afternoon of September 3, 2025, led by College Dean, Dr. Jennifer V. Perez. The meeting was attended by permanent faculty, Contract of Service (COS) personnel, and a few GEC instructors.

Discussions focused on faculty workload and assignments, attendance and classroom management, and teaching performance monitoring. Updates were also provided on faculty profiling and reportorial requirements, as well as accreditation, research, and extension activities.

Other matters included instructional materials development, program migration and development initiatives, and reminders on faculty policies and guidelines.

The meeting served as an avenue to align all faculty members with the college’s ongoing initiatives, fostering collaboration and shared commitment to academic excellence.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) 3rd year students successfully conducted their Final Thesis Defense during the summer break of 2025.

The activity served as a major academic requirement, ensuring that students could demonstrate their research, problem-solving, and technical skills before a panel of evaluators. Approval of their thesis is one of the key prerequisites prior to their deployment for On-the-Job Training (OJT).

The successful conduct of the defense highlights the students’ preparedness to apply their learning in real-world settings and marks an important milestone in their journey as future IT professionals.
