This course of study is an advanced research degree that allows the student to specialize in a particular area of study or ministry. Upon the satisfactory completion of the course work, the student will have graduated with the highly respected degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Religion (Ph. D.). To apply for the Doctor of Philosophy in Religion program, the student must have a minimum of a Doctor of Biblical Studies degree from CBBC or equivalent from an approved educational institution. The student will submit three possible research topics for their dissertation. The faculty will then select a topic from the three submitted by the student for the student to begin the research and preparation portion of this course. This research will be reviewed and critiqued periodically by the faculty of CBBC. Upon completion of the research and dissertation, the student will submit copies of their dissertation for review to a panel selected by the faculty of CBBC. After a thorough review, a date will be set for the student to both present and defend their dissertation before this panel. The panel will then convene and vote to either accept or reject this dissertation and its defense. If it is accepted, the student will be required to fund and submit the content of their dissertation for publishing. Once published, the student will have completed all of the requirements for graduation, and the degree of Ph.D. will be conferred on them. If it is rejected, the student will resubmit the dissertation with the corrections or clarifications needed for acceptance, and then re-present and defend it before the panel. This process will continue until the panel accepts the dissertation.
