Eucharistic Prayers
Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen
Prayer Before the Blessed Sacrament
Lord Jesus,
I believe that you are truly present in the Eucharist.
As I receive you in Holy Communion,
help me to love as you loved,
serve as you served,
so I can be the Body
of Christ to others.
Amen.
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever.
Amen.
Prayer for the Sanctity of Life
My God, we adore you here in the Blessed Sacrament.
Here before you we recognize you as the Creator of all Life.
we thank you and we praise You for the lives you have given us and to those we love.
Give us a true and lasting respect for all life, for we recognize it as coming from You.
We pray for all who have suffered or died as a result of disrespect,
whether that suffering and death has come as a result of abuse, war, gossip or abortion.
We pray for an end for all disrespect of life.
(As we kneel) here before you we ask You to forgive all those who do not respect the sanctity of life.
We repeat the words you spoke as you hung on the cross,
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
Amen
Suscipe
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.
St. Ignatius of Loyola
Golden Arrow Prayer
May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious and unutterable Name of God
be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in Heaven, on Earth, and under the Earth
by all the creatures of God and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ
in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Amen.
Three Prayers from the Maronite Liturgy
You have united, O Lord, your divinity with our humanity
and our humanity with your divinity,
your life with our mortality and our mortality with your life.
You have assumed what is ours and you have given us what is yours
for the life and salvation of our souls. To you be glory forever.
Amen
Make us worthy, O Lord God,
so that our bodies may be sanctified by your holy Body
and our souls purified by your forgiving Blood.
May our communion be for the forgiveness of our sins and for new life.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory, forever.
Amen.
Prayer of Thanksgiving After Communion
O Lord,
I have comsumed Your Holy Body
Let not the fire of hell consume me.
My eyes have touched your Holy Body
Let them see your abundant mercy.
O Word of God,
I have shared in your Holy Mysteries,
Let me join You in Your heavenly abode.
Count me among the sheep at Your right,
And I shall chant Your Glory forever.
O Bread of Life,
I have taken You as food on my journey,
And when I am hungry, I will consume you.
The fire will not approach me because the aroma
of Your Holy Body emanates from me.
O Savior of Mankind,
Your Baptism shall save me from damnation
and I shall join you in the mansion of life and peace forever.
Amen
A Prayer of St. Faustina
O Jesus, I want to live in the present moment, to live as if this were the last day of my life.
I want to use every moment scrupulously for the greater glory of God,
to use every circumstance for the benefit of my soul.
I want to look upon everything from the point of view that nothing happens without the will of God.
God of unfathomable mercy, embrace the whole world
and pour Yourself out upon us through the merciful Heart of Jesus
(Diary, 1183). St Faustina
Prayer Before Holy Communion
Father in heaven, You have made us for Yourself;
our hearts are restless until they rest in You.
Fulfill this longing through Jesus the Bread of Life,
so that we may witness to Him who alone
satisfies all of the hungers of the human family.
By the power of Your Spirit, lead us to the heavenly table
where we may feast on the vision of Your Glory for ever and ever.
Amen
Ignatian Prayer to Our Redeemer
Jesus, may all that is you flow into me.
May your body and blood be my food and drink.
May your passion and death by my strength and life.
Jesus, with you by my side, enough has been given to me.
May the shelter I seek be the shadow of your cross.
Let me not run from the love which you offer,
but hold me safe from the forces of evil.
On each of my dyings shed your light and your love.
Keep calling to me until that day comes,
when, with your saints, I may praise you forever.
Amen
Prayer to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament
O Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the glory of Christians, the joy of the universal Church, and the hope of the world, pray for us. Kindle in all the faithful a lively devotion to the Holy Eucharist, so that they may all be made worthy to receive Holy Communion every day.
Pray for us, O Virgin Immaculate, Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament that the Eucharistic Kingdom of Jesus Christ may come among us!
The Prayer of the Chalice
Father, to you I raise my whole being,
a vessel emptied of itself. Accept Lord
this my emptiness, and so fill me with
Yourself, Your Light, Your Love, Your
Life - that these your precious Gifts
may readiate through me and over-
flow the chalice of my heart into
the hearts of all with whom I
come into contact this day
revealing to them
the beauty of
Your Joy
and
Wholeness
and
the
serentity
of Your Peace
which nothing can destroy.
Prayer of St. Alphonsus de Liguori
My Lord Jesus Christ, who for the love you bear us, remain night and day in this Sacrament,
full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling and welcoming all who come to visit you.
I believe that you are present in the Sacrament of the Altar.
I adore you from the abyss of my nothingness
and I thank you for all the graces you have given me until now,
and in particular, for having given me your Most Holy Mother Mary as my advocate
and for having called me to visit you in this church.
I now salute your Most Loving Heart, and this for three ends:
first, in thanksgiving for this great gift;
second, to make amends to you for all the outrages
which you receive in this Sacrament from all your enemies;
third, I intend by this visit to adore you in all the places on earth
in which you are present in this Sacrament
and in which you are the least revered and the most abandoned.
My Jesus, I love you with my heart.
I grieve for having until now so many times offended your infinite goodness.
I purpose by your grace never more to offend you for the time to come;
and now, miserable and unworthy though I am,
I consecrate myself to you without reserve.
I give you and renounce my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess.
From now on, use me and all that I have as you wish.
All I ask of you and desire is your holy love, final perseverance
and the perfect accomplishment of your will.
I recommend to you the souls in Purgatory;
but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament
and to the Most Blessed Virgin Mary.
I also recommend to you all poor sinners.
And finally, my dear Saviour, I unite all my affections with the affections of your most loving Heart,
and I offer them with you to your Eternal Father and beg him for your sake
and for love of you, graciously to accept and grant them.
Amen.
