The first statement of the idea behind this research stream was in Allen Thompson's and my 2012 volume, the introduction, "Adapting Humanity."   That volume also included "The Sixth Mass Extinction Is Caused by Us," which was preceded in a separate volume by "Species Extinction and the Vice of Thoughtlessness - The Importance of Spiritual Exercises for Learning Virtue."  Some years later, Chris Haufe and I also wrote "Anthropogenic Mass Extinction: The Science, the Ethics, and the Civics."  Finally, much later, there was the philosophy of law article, "Facing Mass Extinction, It Is Prudent to Decolonise Lands & Laws: A Philosophical Essay on Respecting Jurisdiction."
