Learning Objective: Students will use source documents (customer order form, raw materials records, materials requisitions, labor time records, supplier price lists, etc.) and engineering requirements to demonstrate the job costing process. They will also determine whether certain elements of the process would lead to a different job cost. OPTIONAL: Journal entries associated with the job are included as the last part of the project, but can be eliminated without affecting the rest of the project .
This is a complete set of materials, in hardcopy format. It will give you an overview of the project and all of the associated documents.
The project is available in EXCEL or in a HARDCOPY format. Files for both versions are posted below. Since this is the first project of the semester (in my class), I give students the option of using whichever version they prefer. For all other projects, students must use Excel.
This file contains the directions for the EXCEL version of the project. Give this to students, along with the Excel file containing the documents.
This is the EXCEL file containing all of the necessary documents. Give this file to students, along with the direction packet.
This is the direction packet to give students if you prefer to use the HARDCOPY version rather than the Excel version of the project. Also give them all of the documents shown below: Raw materials records, supplier price list, labor time records, and job cost record. All other documents are imbedded in this direction packet.
This is the HARDCOPY of the raw materials records.
This is the HARDCOPY of the authorized suppliers.
This is the HARDCOPY of the labor time records.
