BS. C students Suha Rashid ALzakwani, Maather Yousuf Almaamari, Akhtar Ibrahim Alzarouni under the supervision of Dr. Hilal Al Maqbali, Assistant Professor in Information Technology Department, The Sultanate has set a target to build confidence in education, scientific research and innovation, according to the Oman 2040 vision. At this project, we are building a smart online platform to support parents, teachers and students in local schools and universities. The proposed platform will help students to improve their knowledge and skills in scientific research for school and university levels. Our proposed platform will provide the ability to host student projects online. We are planning to provide the student with a digital object identifier (DOI). Our database will be open access so other teachers and students can have access. The proposed platform will provide functions to access e-resources, online smart helper tools and access to the database which has school student projects. The proposed platform will provide advertisements for local scientific research events. The proposed platform will have a function to send to all subscribers. The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which will be privileged to school teachers or students, not only provides unique identification for that content, but also provides a profile page for the author (teacher or student). We believe this proposed platform will motivate school teachers and students to work hard and aso to feel more confident to publicly save their work. BS.c students Atheer Thani Al-Saadi and Nasra Yahya Al-jabri under the supervision of Mr. Maen Qaddoura, Assistant Lecturer in Information Technology Department, working to design a smart system that records the entry & exit of the employees’ cars & used for attendance. It can eliminate the need of any human contacts with any device. Please contact us if you would like more information
BS.c students under the supervision of Dr Magdy Saoudi, Assistant Lecturer in Information Technology Department, working to conserve battery energy as much as possible, an efficient drive system, consisting of a chopper controller and a permanent magnet motor, motor is working in four modes of operation - two modes of motoring and two of regenerative braking. It was estimated that approximately 10% of the energy expended by the vehicle during motoring could be returned to the battery if regenerative braking is employed under stop-start driving conditions. The operation of transistor and thyristor choppers is described, and their suitability for use in a vehicle drive system. Please contact us if you would like more information
Dr. Mohamed Salah, Rahma Zaher Al Aufi, Awsaf Al Saidi, and Seham Al Samahi | Development of CO2 sensing circuit and CO2 chemisorption filter.
B. Sc. students Rahma Zaher Al Aufi, Awsaf Al Saidi, and Seham Al Samahi under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Salah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering, are working on the design and fabrication of CO2 sensing circuit and CO2 chemisorption filter. This work will provide a method for removal of CO2 from stag gases in many industries and car engines exhaust as well. They also will study the optimum parameters for the fabrication of a good calcium oxide filter for the chemisorption process. This proposed project is targeting the companies that produce high CO2 effluents. We believe this proposed project will provide great benefits to participate in greenhouse gases reduction. Dr. K.Baskaran, Assistant Professor in Engineering Department, is conducting a research about proposing a work to design and fabricate an efficient banana fiber extractor. This work comprises; an auto conveyor, moisture detection sensor, two-way motor controlled rollers, a dryer, and a blunt blade to achieve the recommended fiber quality, minimize knot formations, fiber breakage, and uneven lengths by adopting a correct feed angle, rotational roller speed, rotational drum-blades and blade configurations. To ensure safety, the feed is designed and controlled using ‘Arduino’ and to understand the effective variables that affect fiber quality, the statistical technique, ‘ANOVA’ is considered. Dr Saad A. Mutasher Al Jaberi , Ayoub Murad Al Balushi, Marwan Huwaishal Al Jassasi, Othman Abdullah Al Maimani, Salim Abdullah Al-haddadi | Design and Development Augmented Wind Turbine System Using 3D Printing Technology
BS.c students Ayoub Murad Al Balushi Marwan Huwaishal Al Jassasi Othman Abdullah Al Maimani Salim Abdullah Al-haddadi under the supervision of Dr Saad A. Mutasher Al Jaberi, The wind power generation is proportional to the wind speed by cube; therefore, a large power output increase is attained, if it is possible to give even a slight increase in the velocity of the approaching wind to a wind turbine. The approach to increase the wind speed at the location of the wind turbine is shrouded by a diffuser to accelerate the wind velocity at wind turbine location. This project will use the same approach by introducing an innovative design of turbine shrouded by a diffuser with perforated flange. In addition, 3D printing technology will be used in the design and fabrication of the prototype. Please contact us if you would like more information.
BS.c students Atheer Thani Al-Saadi and Nasra Yahya Al-jabri under the supervision of Dr SARAVANA KUMAR, Assistant Lecturer in Information Technology Department, working to design suitable membrane systems for different types of water is difficult in the water treatment process. The removal of salts and other components present in the wastewater is very difficult to remove, and also, the selection and steps involved in the treatment process are very tedious. The cost involved in the treatment process will depend on the type of membrane used and the type of wastewater treated in the treatment process. This research will propose the selection of the membrane system based on the feed conditions and temperature. The purpose of this research is also to reduce the cost, energy consumption, and pollution in water treatment plants by selecting the suitable membrane systems using software.
