A Successful Comprehensive Audit of DRMES for the ISO 9001:2015

The auditors from SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. conducted a comprehensive audit of the ISO 9001:2015 at Caraga State University on November 26, 2024. Among the offices audited was the Division of Resource Management and Entrepreneurial Services. The audit was carried out in a systematic and objective manner by Mr. Billy Joel Sadangsal. The audit concentrated on how the division manages its processes, risks, opportunities, and the effective management of the IGPs. Mr. Sandangsal's insightful remarks both challenged and inspired the DRMES team to improve processes, leading to a more sustainable and significantly increased annual revenue.
The findings revealed that DRMES is implementing an effective quality management system - conforms all the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001: 2015. Moreover, DRMES has effectively established risks and opportunities, and fully implemented IGPs in a strategic line with the objectives of the division.
Following the positive audit findings, DRMES is now committed to continually focusing on the successful implementation of a quality management system, which would provide better operations, improvement in customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Benchmarking Activity: Insights from CMU, BukSU, and USTP

In an effort to improve its operations, strategies, and efficiency in generating resources and entrepreneurial services that contribute to the university's entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Division of Resource Management and Entrepreneurial Services (DRMES), under the leadership of Mr. Joey Arles O. Vergara, OIC-Director, conducted a benchmarking activity from November 6-8, 2024, at Central Mindanao University (CMU), Bukidnon State University (BukSU), and University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP-CDO). During the campus visits, the DRMES team interacted with resource generation and entrepreneurial service teams, who explained their programs, gave a guided tour of the facility, and shared their experience.
The following are the areas discussed during the visit:
A. Product Marketing and Business Partnerships
B. Office Operations and Procurement
C. Management of Printing Press and Bookshop Services
D. IGP Management and Best Practices
The benchmarking activity shed light into the best practices of CMU, BukSU, and USTP in resource generation and entrepreneurial services. The findings and insights from this benchmarking activity will serve as a guide for DRMES in its efforts to continually improve and develop its resource generation and entrepreneurial services.

PRODUCTION BOARD: 3rd Quarter Meeting

The 3rd Quarter Production Board Meeting featured strategic deliberations and innovative proposals toward the growth and sustainability of the University. The meeting held at OP Conference room on September 9, 2023, covered a comprehensive agenda that underscored the university's commitment to fostering partnerships, enhancing income-generating projects, and ensuring food security.
The meeting commenced with the discussion on the Reconstitution of the Production Board to ensure diverse expertise in guiding university production initiatives. Major highlights were the Proposed Engagement through a Memorandum of Agreement with PhilRice Agusan Del Norte, the proposed partnership with local Food Concessioners and Restaurants, the adoption of the University Food Security Program (paBUNGA Framework), the review of existing IGP and space renters, strategic decisions to turn over non-IGP projects to appropriate colleges, proposed milk feeding program with the DepEd-ADN, establishment of IGP University Business Yard (UBuY) featuring two components namely the Printing, Binding, and Publishing (PBaP) and Merchandise Design and Production, and the production and distribution of PE, NSTP, and Program Specific uniform were also addressed.
The 3rd Quarter Production Board Meeting is a testament to the initiative of Caraga State University in fostering partnership, enhancing production capability, and ensuring growth that is sustainable. Significant impact is foreseen on the university and its stakeholders from deliberations and decisions made during the meeting.

PASUC-PPP: Infrastructure and Development Projects

In response to need for the wide discrimination of the Implementing Rules island Regulations (IRR) of the Republic Act No. 11966 – An Act Providing for the PPP Code of the Philippines, the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) in partnership with Public-Private Partnership Center designed and implemented a short course designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks as applied to infrastructure and development projects in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). It will cover key concepts, legal and regulatory frameworks, project identification, feasibility assessment, and the role of PPP in enhancing the infrastructure landscape and development of SUCs.
Two of CSU's middle managers were sent to participate in the series of learning modules of the said course. T o which, the first 4 modules were covered during this 2-day event.

BIZcon2024: 26th Caraga Business Conference

The 26th Caraga Business Conference, held in Butuan City on August 8-9, 2024, served as a pivotal platform for fostering economic growth and development in the region. The event brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and industry experts, to discuss pressing issues and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Discussions centered on a wide range of topics, such as infrastructure development, power supply, human capital development, and investment opportunities. The conference also highlighted the potential of the creative industry and renewable energy in driving Caraga's economic progress. Through insightful presentations, panel discussions, and networking activities, participants gained valuable insights and forged partnerships that are expected to contribute significantly to the region's economic landscape.
Representing the University President is the DRGES OIC-Director in the said event, which opened business partnerships with two business firms in the region.
This is more like Private-Public-Partnership which includes infrastructure and development partnership which goes beyond 5 years.
This is more of student entrepreneurial activities which form part of their academic and support to academics requirement. This does not involve full-blown business.
This covers business partnerships that DO NOT necessarily operates inside the campus on a daily basis, but for several days, few months, and not longer than 1 year.
This a periodic event which promotes business collaboration among business partners, students, government agencies, NGOs, Start-up, and Spin off companies.
