Alternative Baseball Movie (2 Minutes)
About Alternative Baseball:
In 2016, The idea of Alternative Baseball® originated in Dallas, Georgia by Taylor Duncan, a young man on the autism spectrum. Taylor always wanted to play traditional sports growing up, but was often denied opportunities due to the commonly low perception of what one with autism can and cannot accomplish. With his positive experiences in baseball and slow-pitch softball across the Southeast region, Taylor decided it was time to give those opportunities to other teens and adults (ages 15+) just like him to play in a traditional baseball setting free of judgment; Instead, focusing on physical and social skills growth through the hands-on authentic experience in all practices and games. Some of the players have since taken their skills to apply into other areas in life off the baseball diamond, including employment.
Players can be of any experience to participate. Games are played using the classic version of the Professional Baseball Rules. Many games are played between 7-9 innings. Players pitch and catch behind the plate in Alternative Baseball®. Today, the program is setting up new programs in 12+ states across the country with many more on the way.

We are a non-profit organization that works with people with physical, mental, and psychological disorders. We use horses to help teach trust, we also use horses to help someone in a wheelchair gain muscle in their core. Horses are a great way for people will physical conditions to leave their condition behind the horse becomes their legs. Horses can help heal the mind and body.
Possum Snout Arena was built in 2000 to host family fun horse shows. That is when we met Rachel Smith from Ranburne, AL. Rachel was born with Spina Bifida and was confined to a wheelchair. She became our inspiration. All Rachel wanted to do was ride a horse just like everyone else. She was our first calling to provide the same opportunity to others. Although Rachel is no longer with us, she left us with our mission to make other's dreams come true. She continues to be our inspiration as do the others we work with. It never ceases to amaze when you watch the reactions on a child's face when they begin relating to a horse.
What is The Miracle League? It’s hope, determination, and a display of human spirit that is unequaled. And, of course…there’s baseball.

The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. But it’s more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated like other kids. To help the athletes, The Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. The Miracle League serves children with any physical or mental disabilities, which can cause them to be excluded from conventional youth baseball leagues.
There is something about playing the game that lights up a youngster’s eyes. But for children with physical and mental disabilities that opportunity can often be difficult to achieve. Baseball diamonds weren’t exactly designed with wheelchairs and mobility devices in mind.
When mental, emotional or substance abuse conditions affect your life, it's hard to see a path forward. The professional, compassionate team at Willowbrooke at Tanner is here to guide you or a loved one on the journey through treatment to recovery.
We believe in treating the whole person. Your physical health depends on your mental wellness. We become a partner in your health to help you identify the obstacles in your path and overcome them.

To learn more about Carroll Connection or to schedule a ride, call
1-844-RSVP-VAN (844-778-7826).
Carroll Connection will provide one-way or round-trip transportation for county residents to any location within the county. The cost is only $3 for one way or $6 for a round trip, no matter the distance.
“This is a way for citizens of Carroll County to have affordable travel to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store, work or school,” said District 4 Commissioner Michelle Morgan, who is chairing the county’s transit advisory committee. “The Board of Commissioners is proud to provide this service.”
Described as a “door-to-door” instead of a mass-transit operation, the service will be available Monday through Friday, except holidays. Morgan said there are no set routes; travel is determined by the needs of the day. Because of the fluid nature of the service’s daily operation, participants must make an appointment for pickup at least 24 hours in advance. Six vans have been purchased to ensure timely travel within the county. They all will seat up to 10 people and are equipped with wheelchair lifts to accommodate all riders.
I am a guardian to a family member, can they have an attendant/aide ride with them? Riders with disabilities may be accompanied by an attendant or companion free of charge. Additional companions will be charged the regular fare.
Members, families, social workers, and health care professionals all book rides via our online reservation portals or call centers. LogistiCare ensures eligibility and schedules the most appropriate transportation provider to meet their needs.
LogistiCare monitors the ride as it is taking place via a number of safety measures, including GPS tracking and random curbside checks by field monitors. Good quality means ensuring the ride happens as intended. Vigilant monitoring is key to that effort.
Drivers pick members up at their homes, take them to their appointments and bring them home in a timely manner. If that ride doesn’t happen to the member’s satisfaction, we care, and will assign a staff member to help. More often than not drivers go above and beyond the call of duty.
State agencies and advocacy groups often turn to LogistiCare to help them solve community health care challenges and create better outcomes for members. We make it easy for state agencies and MCOs to pull population reports via their own portals so information is at the ready.
