Creative Poetic Response: Carol Ann Duffy-Inspired Poem
In class we read 15 poems by Carol Ann Duffy. In response to one of the poems named "Valentine", our class had a project to create a poem of our own that mimicked Carol Ann Duffy's style. For my poem, I was inspired to write about a relationship that I had that lasted for 2 years and its effects on me and my outlook on love. It was honestly a really fun ad beneficial experience writing this poem, because it allowed me to express my feelings in a way that I don't do on a day-to-day basis. I'm proud of the way it turned out, because I feel like was well written and flowed good especially considering it was the first actual poem I've sat down and written. If I could go back and fix one thing though, I would add a central image to have over my poem rather than changing from image to image in each stanza.
