Annie Charles ~ Freshman Academy Assistant Principal
Ms. Charles has 21 years of experience in education. Prior to this role, she served as Assistant Principal at Carrollton Middle, where she led curriculum initiatives that significantly improved student achievement and closed achievement gaps. Mrs. Charles spent 15 years as a science teacher at Villa Rica High School, where she also served as department chair and a mentor to new teachers. She has a strong background in instructional coaching, literacy improvement and professional learning communities. Ms. Charles is passionate about supporting teachers, fostering student growth, and building positive school culture. She holds an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is completing her Tier 1 Leadership Certification from the University of West Georgia. As a Central High School graduate, Annie Charles is happy to be returning to her alma mater.
Rhea Zerr-Shepard ~ Freshman Academy Counselor
This will be my 13th year serving the freshmen students of Central High School and I am so excited to get to know our incoming students and families for the 2026-27 school year! I have been a School Counselor, serving Carroll County Schools, since 2013 and am also a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I have a Master's and Specialist's degree in Counseling and Professional Supervision from the University of West Georgia. I have four children and have lived in Carrollton for over 20 years. I enjoy utilizing creative, fun and collaborative methods in my school counseling practice!

I have a B.S. and M. Ed in math and science education from the University of West Georgia as well as an Ed.S in mathematics education from Georgia Southern University. I love to go fishing with my husband and enjoy Georgia and Falcons football. This will be my 17th year teaching and look forward to this new school year!

I have a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, a Masters in Middle Grades Math and an Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction. I've recently gotten married and my husband Jon and I enjoy travelling, watching sports and spending time with our family.

Marla Martin has been teaching English for 11 years, and she really loves connecting with her students and making lessons come alive. When she's not in the classroom, you'll probably find her on an adventure with her son, Henry Finn, and her husband, TJ.

My name is Stephanie Remillard and I am so excited to be a Central Lion. I am originally from Douglasville, and I recently remarried and our family moved to Villa Rica, GA. I graduated from Douglas County High School, and I then attended Georgia State University for my bachelors degree and teacher certification. This will be my 19th year teaching, and I am excited to teach literature in Central's Freshman Academy. I feel that the classroom should be a safe space for learning and community, and I look forward to fostering that now as a Lion.

Ethan Caldwell ~ Physical Science & Honors Physical Science
I graduated from Berry College with a B.S. in Biology & Secondary Education. During my time at Berry I had the opportunity to compete as a pole vaulter for four years and I then served as an assistant coach for one year. At CHS I will be teaching Physical Science as well as coaching some of the jumping events for the track & field team. James Bowers ~ Environmental Science
I was born and raised in Oregon and hold a Master's in Teaching and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Southern Oregon University. I taught 8th grade science, biology, and advanced field biology in Oregon from 2018 to 2023 before relocating to Georgia, where I have been teaching 7th grade science since fall 2023. My coaching experience spans wrestling, cross country, track, bass fishing, and esports. I have served 14 years in the Army National Guard, where I currently hold the rank of Captain and serve as A Company Commander in the Alabama Army National Guard. I'm excited to work with the students of Central High School! Go Lions!
Brian Terry ~ Honors Physical Science
I have a bachelors degree in biology and general science from Samford University, a masters degree in chemistry and school administration, and a sixth year certification in chemistry from UAB. This will be my 37th year in education. I spent 25 years in Alabama as a chemistry/physics teacher as well as a high school Principal. I have been teaching in Georgia since retiring from Alabama. This will be my ninth year teaching at Central. I have taught primarily chemistry, physics and AP physics during this time, but I am looking forward to teaching Physical science during the upcoming school year.
Stephen Kegley ~ AP Human Geography
This is my ninth year at Central High School and will be my seventh year teaching AP Human Geography. Along with teaching AP Human, I am the Head JV Baseball Coach. Before teaching at Central, I attended Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. I played baseball during my 4 years at Covenant and decided to stay one more year to earn my Masters in Teaching. I am from Rockmart, Ga where I graduated in 2018. I have my Bachelors in history with a certification in secondary education from UWG. This will be my fifth year teaching and I am excited to contribute knowledge to the lives of many students.

Glendon Genty ~ World History
It is an honor to teach World History to your children this year. Freshman year is an exciting time for your students and a great gateway into high school then adulthood. I'm from Powder Springs and graduated from Hillgrove High School. After that, I studied Finance at the University of Georgia. After volunteering at my church, I decided that teaching was a better calling for me and went to West Georgia to be able to do so. Aside from working, my hobbies and interests include playing music (particularly country and classic rock), working on cars, reading, and working whatever side job comes up from installing flooring to playing music.
