Meet the Teachers
Shayna Moses ~ Freshman Academy Assistant Principal
This is my first year at CHS and my 24th year in education. I have taught in Carroll County for 21 of those years. I received a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Business Education from the University of West Georgia. I also have a Specialist in Teaching and Instruction from Piedmont University. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Ken, for 23 years. We have three beautiful children, BreAnna (21), Kendra(18), and Dylan(15). I am excited to be part of the Central Family! Go Lions!!
Rhea Zerr-Shepard ~ Freshman Academy Counselor
This will be my 10th year serving the freshmen students of Central High School and I am so excited to get to know our incoming students and families for the 2024-25 school year! I have been a School Counselor, serving Carroll County Schools, since 2013 and am also a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I hold a Master's and Specialist's degree in Counseling and Professional Supervision from the University of West Georgia. I have four children and have lived in Carrollton for 19 years. I enjoy utilizing creative, fun and collaborative methods in my school counseling practice!
Jessica Dodson ~ Algebra I & Honors Algebra I
I have a B.S. and M. Ed in math and science education from the University of West Georgia as well as an Ed.S in mathematics education from Georgia Southern University. I love to go fishing with my husband and enjoy Georgia and Falcons football. This will be my 14th year teaching and look forward to this new school year!
Brooke Jaye ~ Algebra I
My name is Brooke Jaye and I teach Algebra 1. I was born and raised in Douglasville, Georgia. After graduating from Douglas County High School, I went on to the University of West Georgia to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I also earned a Master's Degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty University. This will be my 19th year teaching. I am married to David Jaye and we have two boys. Murray is 9 years old and Braxton is 6 years old. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family.
Harlie Wainright ~ Algebra I
This is my first year at CHS and my second year teaching. I am excited to be part of the Central Family! I went to college and played softball at Brewton-Parker College. I come here from Blackshear, GA where I taught middle school math. Over the summer, I married my college sweetheart, Dawson. At CHS, I teach Algebra 1. In addition to teaching, I am the assistant coach for the CHS Softball Team. I can't wait to meet you all and learn some math! Go Lions!!
Ginny Chandler ~ 9th Grade Literature
As one of the teachers in Freshman Academy, I'm thrilled to be a part of students' first year experience at Central High School. I am a Carrollton native, and a graduate of both the University of Arkansas and Gardner-Webb University. In my free time, I enjoy all things outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Welcome to CHS and I look forward to getting to know you this school year!
Marla Martin ~ 9th Grade Literature & Honors 9th Grade Literature
I received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of West Georgia. Outside of school, I love reading, singing Christmas carols, planting flowers, and spending time with my friends and family.
Mackenzi Costley ~ Physical Science
I graduated from The University of Georgia with a B.S. in Biology and will begin my Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Broad Field Science at UWG this fall. I played trumpet for the Redcoat Band at UGA for 4 years and love all things music. This will be my first year teaching and I cannot wait to start the year with my future students!
Riley Presnell ~ Physical Science & Environmental Science
I am excited about joining the Freshman Academy here at Central High School as an Environmental and Physical Science teacher. Previously, I taught Life Science at Central Middle School right down the road. I received my Bachelor's at Piedmont University and am currently working towards my Master's Degree. I am also serving as the Head Baseball Coach here at Central High and look forward to an awesome first school year within the Freshman Academy at CHS.
Ethan Caldwell~ Physical Science & Honors Physical Science
I graduated from Berry College with a B.S. in Biology & Secondary Education. During my time at Berry I had the opportunity to compete as a pole vaulter for four years and I then served as an assistant coach for one year. At CHS I will be teaching Physical Science as well as coaching some of the jumping events for the track & field team. Stephen Kegley ~ AP Human Geography
This is my sixth year at Central High School and will be my fourth year teaching AP Human Geography. Along with teaching AP Human, I am the Head JV Baseball Coach. Before teaching at Central, I attended Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. I played baseball during my 4 years at Covenant and decided to stay one more year to earn my Masters in Teaching. I have many interests outside of teaching, which include: traveling, eating, and exercising. Over the summer I married my long-time girlfriend Mariah. Ashton Kellogg~ World History
I am from Rockmart, Ga where I graduated in 2018. I have my bachelors in history with a certification in secondary education from UWG. This will be my second year teaching and I am excited to contribute knowledge to the lives of many students and be a part in their lives
Mitt Conerly ~ World History
Education includes Central High School Class of 1981; Auburn University; State University of West Georgia and experience per: United States Air Force- RAF Alconbury U.K. 1985-88; Central Middle School 1990-1999; Central High School 2013.
Glendon Genty ~ World History
In 2017, I graduated from The University of Georgia with a BBA in Finance. After that, I finished a MAT program in 2020 at The University of West Georgia. Outside of teaching, I like to play music and go running.
