When will I get to see my schedule for 9th grade?
Counselors work throughout the summer making sure schedules are accurate. We will have an Open House prior to the start of school. Students will pick up their schedule at that time; students will also receive a copy of their schedule on the first day of school.
What if my schedule is incorrect?
We will have digital drop/add forms available during Open House, as well as at the beginning of school to request changes. Please complete the form as soon as possible and we will process on a first come, first serve basis. Drop/add will span the first few days of school.
What if I fail a class?
If you do not pass a course required for graduation, you will be required to retake it until you pass. Remember, you are promoted to the next grade level depending on the number of credits you earn. All students must have 5 credits to be considered a 10th grade student at the end of their freshman year. Credit is earned at the end of 1st semester and at the end of 2nd semester.
How much time do I have in each class?
Each class is approximately 55 minutes long.
How much time do I have between classes?
You have 5 minutes between each class. During this time, you will need to take care of any business you have (restroom, locker, snacks/drinks), so there is little time to socialize.
When do I eat lunch?
All 9th graders eat lunch together during your 4th period class. We have two other lunch periods that are reserved for 10th-12th grades only. You have 25 minutes for lunch. You may not leave campus for lunch.
What if I need to use the restroom during a class?
Each student is given a pre-determined number of restroom passes. Use them wisely; once they are gone, you are not allowed out of the class.
What happens if I am absent?
You will need to turn in your excuse to the attendance office once you return. It is also your responsibility to ask your teachers for the work you have missed.
Where do I check in and check out?
You are required to check in and out at the attendance office located at the front of the school. The attendance office is located in Student Services.
The campus is so big. Will I get lost?
Teachers and adults in the building are in the halls during class change and can answer any question you may have. Once you walk through the school a few times, you will feel confident about navigating the hallways.
Remember!
Teachers, counselors, and administrators are available every day if you have questions or concerns.
Please always feel free to ask questions!
