Take some time to:
Watch the videos from each department that explain the different classes available to you
Review Graduation Requirements & school course catalog online to find out more about individual courses
Get familiar with the process (scan the next steps)
In early January, teachers will review records and suggest course placement for each student
Recommendations will be emailed to families the week of January 10th to help guide you in planning for a courses that are a best fit
PLEASE SAVE THIS DOCUMENT, you will have to upload this when you do your draft course selection form to prepare for meeting with counselor
Your teacher or the department chair can give you information and is available to answer questions
On January 13th during Community time:
Students will be able to meet with teachers and departments chairs and ask questions about classes they are interested in
The AP Fair will provide detailed information about AP courses available
On March 1st and March 2nd College Counselors will come to your Frosh Wellness: Mind, Body, Spirit class and run a session with your teachers on the scheduling process
They will help you understand the scheduling process and help you make decisions about what classes might be a good fit
You will be assigned homework to pick your classes with your parents and fill out a paper course request draft.
Make sure you have the document with the teacher recommendations because you are going to need that when selecting classes!
During the class session, you will be given homework (to pick your classes with your parents) that is due March 6.
On March 9th and March 10, the counselors will be back to hold short meetings with students who would like to review their selections or have questions about the classes they have chosen
If you want to take AP courses, Carondelet requires students to fill out an AP Contract
You should also fill out the Time Management Planner to make sure that APs fit in your schedule and will not be too much:
(Carondelet sets a limit on the number of APs a student can take in a given year: max of 2 for a sophomore, 3 for a junior and 4 for a senior)
PreReq Waiver if you want to take a class you were not recommended for and/or for which you do not meet pre-reqs, you will need to have to fill out this form to get the process started. You should also plan to meet with the Department Chair to discuss the class your are interested and potential avenues to getting ready for that class. Deadline for requesting pre-req waivers is March 15, 2023.
