Three Different Ways to Enter Into the Military:

• Enlist - directly into a military branch when you turn 18 years old: 

  • • Army 

    • Air Force

    • Navy

    • Marine Corps

    • Coast Guard

• ROTC Programs - student chooses to go to college and pursue military at the same time; typically Air Force, Army, and Navy. There are ROTC scholarships for qualifying students and the expectation for students to serve in active duty after college. 

• Military Academies - It’s an extremely competitive and lengthy process, which starts Junior year. There is the expectation for students to serve in active duty as well. There are five Service Academies:

  • • The United States Air Force Academy

    • The United States Coast Guard Academy

    • The United States Merchant Marine Academy

    • The United States Military Academy

    • The United States Naval Academy
