I have found that student engagement increases, but also that student spatial analysis skills and digital collaboration skills also improve. If you are a teacher, I encourage you to consider the pedagogy behind the implementation of this type of technology. Simon Sinek, in a now-famous Ted Talk and book, talks about the importance of starting with “why” before getting into the specifics of a movement. There can be a lot of details in the process of 3d printing, and I hope to use this site to help sort through these details. But, before you get "lost in the weeds" it is my hope that you consider the evidence in this article to keep the use of this technology grounded in sound pedagogy that is focused on increasing student engagement and achievement.
