Beginner Lessons and PE Credit

We recognize that many Carls have never skied before, and that for many, Carleton will be their first time experiencing winter. We believe that it's important to be able to go outside and get exercise during every season, and more importantly, that skiing is really fun. In order to serve the Carleton community, experienced skiers are committed to helping inexperienced skiers learn to enjoy the sport.

We offer three new skier classes, two sections of PE165 Introduction to Nordic Skiing: Classic, and one section of PE166 Introduction to Nordic Skiing: Skate. Each class is taught by a pair of student instructors and is entirely graded on attendance.

We recommend brand-new skiers register for PE165 Intro to Classic.

For more experienced skiers, one PE Credit per year is available for skiers registered for PE263, offered every winter term.

Requirements:

Attend 20 practices throughout winter term
Complete 1 race or volunteer service event

There is no skill or performance requirement for attempting or getting credit.

As much as we'd like to give everyone credit, late registration and retroactive credit are not possible. If you think you might want to try skiing for credit, just sign up for the class before the winter term drop/add period ends! You can always drop later if you need to.
