During the fall, the captains occasionally run informal, zero-commitment practices for those interested in preparing for the winter. These include running in the Arb, hill bounding, strength and balance training, and rollerskiing on various routes through and beyond campus. Northfield and the Arb offer nice mixes of flats and hills to practice on, and the Recreation Center on campus has great indoor facilities in the case of bad weather.
During the winter, official practices are held 4-5 times per week in the Arb, typically at 3:30pm. For the first few weeks, every practice includes a beginner lesson, with further lessons as needed. Advanced technique drills and workouts will be led according to interest. There is also a free ski option every day.
In cases of inclement weather or a lack of skiable snow, practices may include weight room, lap swimming, or other cross-training workouts.
You can earn PE credit by attending an average of 2 practices per week.
There are no scheduled practices in the spring, but keep an eye out for informal workouts, rollerskiing, and team events.
