ヒトに飼われているネコは、野生の猫と比べて、鼻の長さが短く、目の角度が低いことがわかり、これらの形態変化は「可愛らしさ」の評価に影響することを明らかにしました。ヒトと暮らし、ヒトとの相互作用によって飼い猫の顔形態は変化してきたと考えられます。京都大学・上智大学との共同研究です。

ヒトが犬と触れ合っている様子をプロジェクターで映し出し、被験イヌに呈示したところ、ヒトが犬と触れ合っていない映像を注視した条件と比較して、心拍変動(R-R間隔の標準偏差)が低くなりました。このことから、イヌはビデオで再生される二次元の社会刺激に対しても情動反応を示すことが明らかとなり、また、飼い主への愛着が強いイヌほど、自己(被験イヌ)の映像刺激と他の犬の映像刺激の違いに対する情動反応が明瞭であることも明らかにしました。大学プレスリリースはこちら
