How to Help
Every Action Saves a Life
Every Action Saves a Life
Whether you have an afternoon, a spare bedroom, or a few extra dollars — you have something we need. Here's how to put your love of animals to work.
You're not just saving one life. You're changing two: the animal's, and your own.
Looking for a new family member? Our animals are waiting to meet you!
Our animals have already been through the hard part. By the time you meet them, they've been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, health-checked, and loved on by our staff. All they need now is you.
Dogs and cats of every age, size, and personality are waiting at our shelter on Pasture Road. Senior pets who just want a couch. Energetic puppies ready for adventure. Shy cats who'll become your shadow once they trust you. The perfect companion is out there, and we'll help you find them.

Every dollar you give goes directly to the animals.
CAPS runs lean. We always have. Our annual budget relies almost entirely on donations, fundraisers, and the generosity of people like you, because Churchill County doesn't have a big-city budget, but our animals have big-city needs.
Here's what your gift does:
$25 helps vaccinate a puppy or kitten.
$400 covers a spay or neuter surgery.
$100 stocks a week's worth of food for our animals.
$500 helps cover emergency veterinary care for a sick or injured animal.
Any amount, one-time or recurring, keeps our doors open and our animals safe. Donate online at checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/CAPS.
Your support directly impacts the animals in our care. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax-deductible.
Supplies We Always Need:
Dog and cat food (all life stages)

Foster families are the secret weapon of no-kill sheltering.
Foster families save lives! By opening your home temporarily, you make room for us to help another animal in need.
When our shelter is at capacity, or when an animal needs a quieter environment to heal, foster families make all the difference. Opening your home for even a few weeks gives an animal the space, stability, and individual attention they need to thrive.
What fostering looks like: You provide a safe home environment. We provide food, supplies, and veterinary care. You provide the love. It's that simple.
Foster homes are especially critical for nursing mothers and litters, animals recovering from illness or surgery, anxious or undersocialized pets who need one-on-one time, and elderly animals awaiting their perfect match.
No experience required, just patience, compassion, and a willingness to say goodbye (the good kind) when your foster finds their forever home.
