Dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities are waiting at CAPS. From senior pets looking for a quiet home to energetic puppies ready for adventure, we'll help you find a companion who's right for you.
Browse our available pets online, then visit CAPS during our regular open hours, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM daily, to meet your potential new companion. Our staff will guide you through the adoption application and next steps.
Adoption Process
Ready to meet your new best friend?
1. Browse: Explore our available animals online using Adopt-a-Pet or our Facebook page.
2. Visit: Stop by CAPS during our regular open hours, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM daily, to meet the animals.
3. Apply: Complete an adoption application with guidance from our staff.
4. Find Your Match: Talk with our team about the pet's personality, needs, and fit for your household.
5. Welcome Them Home: Complete the adoption process and bring your new companion home when approved.
Donate to CAPS
Every gift helps us care for animals in need.
Churchill Animal Protection Society is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter serving Fallon and Churchill County. We rely on donations, fundraisers, and community support to provide food, shelter, and veterinary care for the animals in our care.
Your donation makes a difference. Contributions help provide:
- Food and daily care for shelter animals
- Vaccinations and spay/neuter services
- Veterinary treatment for sick or injured animals
- Safe shelter and enrichment while animals wait for homes
Every contribution matters. Make a one-time or recurring donation through our secure online donation page.
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CAPS is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations, subject to applicable tax rules.
Every item from our wishlist goes directly to the animals in our care. Food keeps them healthy while they wait for their forever homes, cleaning supplies keep the shelter safe and sanitary, and toys and treats help reduce stress and keep them happy.

Foster Care
A temporary home can make a life-changing difference when an animal needs extra support.
CAPS uses foster homes on an as-needed basis, particularly for puppies, kittens, and animals who may benefit from additional care outside the shelter.
To help animals remain accessible to potential adopters, CAPS generally keeps adoptable animals at the shelter. Foster homes are requested when specific needs arise, such as caring for puppies, kittens, or animals needing additional support.
When a specific fostering need arises, we welcome community members who are interested in helping. Please follow CAPS on Facebook for current opportunities and requests for foster homes.
