Our Story

In 1986, Churchill Animal Protection Society (CAPS) was founded by people who cared deeply about animals and wanted to make a difference in their community. What began as a local effort to help animals in need became a lasting part of Fallon and Churchill County.

For four decades, CAPS has worked to provide shelter and care for homeless cats and dogs, help animals find loving homes, and give them a second chance. Along the way, the organization has grown and adapted, but its purpose has remained the same: to make a difference in the lives of animals who need help.

CAPS has always depended on the generosity of its community. Donations, volunteers, local partnerships, and fundraising efforts make it possible to provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and daily necessities for the animals in our care.

40 Years of Second Chances

As CAPS celebrates 40 years of service in 2026, we recognize the many people who have helped make this work possible. Every donation, volunteer hour, adoption, and act of kindness contributes to our mission.

Our story is still being written, and we look forward to continuing to serve animals and the people who care about them throughout Churchill County.
