HAPPY RETIREMENT, MRS. BOYS
Mrs. Boys is retiring after 35 year of teaching. She is a National Board Certified teacher who has worked at Bergeson for the past 13 years. While at Bergeson, Mrs. Boys was gave her time and expertise to enrich the lives of our students:
Creating and directing Drama Dawgs, K-5 afterschool theatre program
Directing the Storytelling Club
Teaching free remediation and enrichment classes every year for classroom students
Focusing on brain-based learning
Mrs. Boys has been an NBCT coach for CSUF, a teacher of the year at three different schools in CUSD and at OCMAA Elementary Visual Arts for OCDE.
We will miss her talents and wealth of knowledge. Mrs. Boys was GATE certified, GLAD trained and a PAL advisor teaching students how to resolve conflicts. Most importantly, Mrs. Boys will be missed for taking the time to get to know each student’s strengths and building their confidence.
We will Mrs. Boys and wish her a joyful and restful retirement.
“I have become attached to so many families and will miss the kids. I hope to keep in touch to see how our scholars grow and where their interests take them.” – Mrs. Boys
YOU WILL BE MISSED, MRS. NICKS!
Dear Bergeson Families,
I opened Bergeson as a brand-new school in the fall of 1987. I have been blessed to spend my entire 37-year career here at Bergeson teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade. I raised 4 children of my own who all went to school in Capistrano Unified School District. Bergeson has truly been my home away from home. I have met and worked with some amazing people, families, and students and have seen countless changes over the years.
I will be transferring to Wood Canyon Elementary in Aliso Viejo in August of 2024 as Bergeson is sunsetting out the English only program and there will be no incoming English only Kindergarteners next year. I will miss Bergeson tremendously, but I am also looking forward to a new adventure in my teaching career and the opportunity to grow, learn, and meet new people.
Please wish me luck as I begin this new chapter teaching at Wood Canyon. I will always treasure the memories of my years here at Bergeson and the people who have touched my life.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tracy Nicks
A FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS
INDEPENDENT STUDY CONTRACTS
Some families make plans to leave on vacation during the month of May. Please be advised that Independent Study Contracts are NOT approved the last month of school. Please speak with your child's teacher regarding missed class work and end of the trimester grades.
DELIVERIES TO STUDENTS DURING SCHOOL
In order to maintain our students’ focus on learning, deliveries to the classroom are not permitted. All items
to be delivered to students (instruments, lunches, homework, etc.) must be left in the school office.
Deliveries of packages, flowers, balloons, special lunches, cards, etc. are not allowed during school hours.
Birthday celebrations: In accordance with the CUSD Board Policy, providing food (birthday cake, cookies,
fast food, pizza, etc.) for the class or groups of students is not allowed for birthdays, even during lunch.
ALL VISITORS ARE EXPECTED TO CHECK-IN AT THE FRONT OFFICE
In order to maintain the safety of our students and staff, all parents/guardians and visitors are expected to sign-in at the front office, before visiting classrooms.
All visitors must wear a badge while on campus.
Pre-school parents must wear their assigned badges when dropping-off and picking-up their children.
Parents are expected to wait for their children at the front of school; not at the lunch tables or outside of classrooms. Please be mindful of our teachers’ time. Please avoid conversations with teachers before school starts as it takes time away from their preparation to start the day with your children. Email your child’s teacher to schedule a time to meet. Instructional time is sacred time!
PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND DRIVE SAFELY!
Please ensure you follow all traffic laws when dropping and picking up your child. Unfortunately, we have had some close calls in both parking lots with parents driving too fast or not following traffic laws and almost hitting staff or students. PLEASE STOP/SLOW DOWN AT THE CROSSWALK TO ENSURE NO PEDESTRIANS ARE WALKING BEFORE YOU DRIVE THROUGH.
THANK YOU!
On Time to School
THANK YOU, parents and students! We see more and more students arriving to school on time.
