Interest Based Projects

The majority of CEHS's ELO students participate in an interest based project. These projects can take many forms.  

Here are a few of the current interest based projects that 2023-2024 CEHS ELO students are in the early stages of pursing:

-Learning about local foraging and working to prepare meals using foraged ingredients

-Creating a type 1 diabetes awareness campaign to be used in local schools

-Researching the viability of using seaweed as an organic fertilizer, then creating a seaweed based organic fertilizer and starting a company to sell the fertilizer

-Researching the connection between psychology and world building in video game design

-Exploring careers related to the fashion industry

-Creating a mycelium based textile to be used as a sustainable fashion material

-Learning about filmmaking, advertising, and website design by creating videos advertising local consignment stores and creating a website for them.  

-Learning about architecture and construction by designing and building a shed

-Exploring careers in broadcast and print journalism

Here are a few examples of past interest based projects:

-Designing and building a rocket

-Creating a photography book

-Creating a book of poetry

-Planning and hosting a community potluck dinner

-Working on an original musical

-Designing and creating a surfboard

-Exploring careers related to athletics and outdoor education

-Creating an original line of body positive clothing

-Learning how to hunt and prepare wild game

and much more!
