Musical Goals

3rd Graders will learn how to:

• further develop an in-tune singing voice

• further develop their sense of steady beat, rhythm, and meter

• identify, read, and write ta, ti-ti, tiri-tiri, half note, whole note, and rests

• identify, read, and write the pentatonic scale: do, re, mi, so, and la

• identify, read, and write pitches in the musical alphabet: C D E F G A B

• navigate the music staff

  • • number the lines and spaces on the music staff

    • identify, read, and write the pentatonic scale on the staff

    • identify, read, and write pitches (letter names) on the staff

    • use standard musical notation to read pitches and rhythms simultaneously

• play various instruments, including boomwhackers, Orff, percussion, ukulele, and recorder

• identify various instruments and their families
