GENERAL
Our High school is located in Teguise. Teguise is a village in the island of Lanzarote which is the fourth biggest island concerning its area. It is a tourist island which has an area of 845,9 square kilometres. Our students range from 12 to 22 years old on average. They come from varied social and economic backgrounds. Most of the inhabitants of this town work for the service sector. However, it is a rural area where many people work on plots of land that they have inherited from relatives. They usually grow these plots of land for themselves. This school offers our students the possibility of studying different educational levels and studies. Our student body is mainly composed of students of ESO (ESO is a four-year compulsory level of studies) and Bachillerato (a non- compulsory two-year level which focuses on the contents necessary to have access to university/college). Our school also offers vocational training courses. We have basic level courses which focus on agriculture and gardening, cooking and waitressing. It is extremely important to mention that as part of our educational programme, our school provides gardening and agricultural courses for handicapped students. Our students can also choose to pursue advanced level vocational training courses such as Integracion Social (IT educates our students to work on different posts related to the social services working field), Educacion Infantil (Early childhood Education expert), Promocion de la Igualdad ( Our students study to become experts on promoting gender equality in the public and private sector) y Atencion a personas con Dependencia (They study to work with dependent people with physical, sensorial or cognitive disabilities).
KEY PEOPLE AND EXPERIENCE
Our contact person is Teno Osorio CastaƱeda who has been the coordinator of our Erasmus programme and who has taken part in a job shadowing experience while working in another school.
Our school has taken part in the Erasmus programme, which is going to end in the school year 2019-2020. Our school encourages our students to participate in voluntary work and campaigns such as the school market organized before Christmas whose aim was to collect money for an NGO called ASEDA GAMBIA. Our school is also involved in a project called GUARDIANS OF OUR LAND. This project tries to make unused plots of land return to the way they were when they were being grown. Our school is also taking part in environmental projects such as a campaign of repopulation with endemic species from Lanzarote.
Our school has already taken part in three European projects. 15 teacher have been involved in our last Erasmus programme experience and one member of the school faculty has been given an award for a project focused on the regeneration of our landscape.
