At Canaan we are committed to giving our students the most quality instruction and educational opportunities. This all starts with teachers being trained professionals with the STEM curriculum. The 5-E Model of instruction that is the basis for CREATE2THINK is used across the curriculum. Teachers have received training in the instructional framework and ongoing, scheduled professional development is available to staff as well as more support when needed.

To build our teachers' capacity in PBL and STEM, we have worked with Equitable Education Solutions f or many years . In this partnership, we were able to participate in their PBL Certification Training which aligns with Buck Institute, as EES encompasses the Gold Standards model of Project Based Learning.

100% of our teachers on staff, are implementing a STEM instructional approach in their classroom on a quarterly basis through the context of solving real-world problems.

3.3 Student Instructional Work Groups

Students participate in collaborative learning throughout each quarter, including during STEM/PBL units. Teachers determine roles and responsibilities with their students. Students work collaboratively on challenges and solutions.

3.4 Technology in Instruction

Technology is used by 100% of teachers daily in their classrooms for multiple uses that support STEM instruction.

3.5 STEM Integration

All of the general education teachers use CREATE2THINK curriculum units to implement STEM in their classrooms. Indicative of the implementation plan, 100% of teachers implement STEM units quarterly..
