Canaan is a very welcoming school, it's whole child focused, and the atmosphere is very cheerful and encourages movement involving the mind and body. Canaan offers plenty of hands on learning and STEM opportunities for the students to engage in.

1.1 Decision-Making

The STEM Leadership Team routinely meets monthly to discuss and plan STEM opportunities for learning and integrating. Our staff is surveyed to continue to grow in STEM ideas and tools to create more experiences for our students. STEM Day feedback drives planning for best learning opportunities for students and incorporates community partners interest.

Canaan Community Academy utilizes many applications that serve students in collaboration both in person or virtually. Within our Continuous Learning Plan, we included a section specifically addressing STEM in any modality.

1.3 Common Work Time

Teachers have common planning time each day during specials. Canaan Academy is a small charter school, therefore; teams also meet weekly as a whole staff. This time is used as a staff meeting as well as specific grade level meeting time.

Canaan values student opinions and uses that data to help drive programs offered. We are committed to constantly revitalizing our programs and ensuring that STEM programming continues to grow each year.

Students' interests are used to direct the STEM program revisions, and to gauge what is working well or areas needing improvement to be more effective. Student input is valued, welcomed and encouraged.

At Canaan we believe that all children deserve access and opportunity to programs that will help facilitate their growth. One hundred percent of students participate in STEM activities daily.
