Late/Makeup: I do not excuse late work unless requested in advance of the due date, under extraordinary circumstances. If extensions or extraordinary circumstances do not apply, students can expect a ten percent reduction for every day that work is turned in late. Many middle and high school teachers do not accept late work, and as a sixth grade teacher, I do not wish for my students to develop and carry tardy work habits into their academics moving forward. However, I would much rather have students make up missed work than just "take the L," and never learn the missed material. If a student reaches out to me, attends homework club for my assistance, and completes the work to a high quality; I am prone to grading late or missing work more leniently.
Absent work: If a student is absent, they must schedule a time to speak with me about what they will be expected to make up. My daily agenda has a "Mr. S Appointment link," for them to make that appointment. They will receive full credit if they do so.
Additional accommodations and modifications for Late/Make up credit will be considered on a case by case basis if the student has reached out to seek them and attended Homework Club with me after school.Â
Office Hours: I am available to assist students during lunch or after school if asked in person, upon making an appointment on my daily agenda, or by requesting a meeting via email at tschwalenberg@campbellusd.org.
Homework Club: I host Rolling Hills' year long homework club on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00. All students at RHMS are welcome at anytime for a quiet space to study or recieve additional tutoring. I regularly have additional support from other teachers all the way through 8th grade as well. Emergent Bilinguals (English Language Learners) and Students with Special Needs are also eligible for additional study programs in addition to my HW club. Please reach out via email if your child is eligible and would like for them to receive that additional service.
