Professional Journey
I obtained my B.A. in Philosophy from UCSC in 2015 and previously worked as a legal assistant and paralegal with the intention of becoming a lawyer. However, after five years in the legal profession I decided that I did not enjoy the work. I got my substitute teaching permit in summer of 2017, and started my first long term substitute position that fall. The position was both daunting and serendipitous. The position was to cover for the teacher who had replaced my mother when she retired, and I would be teaching the same class, in the same room, as my mother had taught for seventeen years. I immediately fell in love with the students and the profession, and enrolled at UCSC for my Masters Degree in Education, which I obtained in June of 2019. This will be my tenth year in the profession, my eighth year as a credentialed teacher, and my seventh year teaching math and science in sixth grade. I could not be more excited to be teaching math and science, my educational passion.
