My name is Carla Pearson-Sethna. This is a photo of my family from Christmas break.
My country of origin is Canada. I have lived in Georgia for 15 years.
I am very excited to be teaching English Learners at Campbell High School. I have taught English - literature, writing, and ESOL - for 20 years. My first teaching position was in Sri Lanka. I have a M.A. in English Literature from the University of Dallas and a B.Ed. from the University of Toronto. I have an Ontario Teaching Certificate in English and History, and a Georgia Teaching Certificate in English and ESOL.
When I am not teaching, or thinking about what I want to teach my students, I am hanging out with my family. My husband's name is Fram Sethna, and we have been married for 24 years. We have two daughters, Jadyn and Kiana, ages 19 and 17. Jadyn studies biology at Georgia Tech, and Kiana is in 12th grade. Her passions are singing, dancing, and art.
We also have a 13-year old dog, Jazzy, a 3-year old cat, Hazel, and a 2-year old rabbit, Aussie.
Besides teaching, my passions are reading, traveling, learning about other countries & cultures, studying Spanish, and spending time exploring the amazing natural world.
I like living in Georgia because there are so many places to enjoy nature.
Every summer we drive to Ontario to spend time with our family. I like to kayak when I am there.
This summer, I went to Canada, Costa Rica, and New York City. Last summer, we were in Asia . We went to see orangutans. We were joined by our friend from China who lived with us for 2 years. Then we went to Thailand and Myanmar to spend time with family and to see elephants, and to Cambodia with a church group.
