Abstract

The topic Fractions is one of the topics in the Mathematics syllabus that is taught from Kindergarten to Grade Six.  It is a core area in Mathematics that many students have difficulty understanding. Students who are not interested in Fractions may never learn facts about it. The game was created to spark students’ curiosity in a fun way. This game caters for different learning styles (auditory and visual). It gives them an opportunity to learn with their peers.

Students were given a pretest where they had to answer questions based on the Unit Fractions.  They were unable to answer many questions correctly.  Students were then allowed to play the Fraction Express.  After the game, students were given a post test.  Students were now able to answer most of the questions about Unit Fractions they had learned in the game.  

Students commented that they enjoyed playing the game and looked forward to playing again with their friends.
