Remember to practice sight words. By the end of the school year all the kindergarten words should be known. By the end of the summer it would be good to know the 1st list of the first grade words. Need the words? They are listed on Mrs. Peckham's website.

1. There are 2 papers in the file for today. You may choose which one is at the best level for your child. One is three letter short vowel words, the other is long /a/ words. It is very important that your child read each of these words out loud. I like to tell the students that the /e/ at the end is a bossy /e/ and it makes the other in the vowel say it's name. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the same directions just different words.
2. Please read for 15 minutes a story of your choice.

We are starting a weather unit.
Read and begin to color the Weather book. Parents may help with the reading. Students will read this book everyday.
On April calendar-weather chart ( see papers link or make your own) begin to chart the weather everyday. Please save these and we will share them together on Friday May 1st.

1. There are 2 sets of reading papers in the folder; one is The Plan the other is The Race. Please choose the best fit for your child. They will do only one set of these papers. This is a 2 day assignment. Once your child knows all the words have them work on fluency. Reading at a fluid pace and with feeling. Stop at the end of sentences. The more your child practices reading the same passage the better reader they will becoming.
2. Silent reading a book of your choice for 15 minutes.

3. Write an opinion paper on Something that you like; such as a book, a sport, a toy, an activity, a person, a place)
Give 3 examples of why you like what you are writing about. IE: "I think Sartorette is a great school here are 3 reasons why you should go to Sartorette. The first reason is because the students are very friendly and nice. I like playing with my friend at recess time. The second reason is because you will learn a whole bunch of stuff. I am learning how to add and subtract. The last reason is because we get to do fun projects like make a leprechaun trap. These are some of the reasons why Sartorette is the best!"
You can use the paper provided or any lined paper. You may need more than one paper. I hope you do need more than one paper!
No math today. Play War or Make Ten with a family member.
