During this (not quite) quarter-long course, students will explore basic tenets of visual and performing arts. Students will practice key concepts designed to spark creativity and deepen their appreciation for the arts.
For performing arts, we will practice such skills as:
voice inflections & enunciation
hand gestures & facial expressions
volume & pacing
posture & eye contact
Students will prepare and present a personal story or prepare and share published poem(s); rehearse and present short dramatic scenes and/or monologues; and play a variety of interactive and improvisational games to develop trust and comfort within our group.
For visual arts, students will create weekly projects and learn more about:
artists, techniques, and styles
art as communication
creative expression
elements of art
