“Paul the Apostle wrote Romans 12:21 to give us advice as to how we can conquer evil. He tells us that it is not by more wickedness; it is by goodness. Nonetheless, we sometimes become badly influenced by those around us, and we become consumed by evilness. In other words, evil wins against us when we return evil with evil. It wins against us when we do revenge. So how can we not be overcome by evil and instead overcome it with good? Paul gives us an example right before Romans 12:21. He writes, “Instead, if your enemies are hungry, feed them, If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” (Romans 12:20) Here, Paul tells us that we can overcome evilness by giving goodness and caring for those who harm us instead of using revenge. Let’s try to not have evil devour us, and rather eradicate it from our hearts by refusing to turn to vengeance, not being influenced by others, and doing good for those who try to inflict pain on us.” ~ Morgan Lee
