The First Grade Teachers have collaborated together to teach different subjects to the first graders: I will be teaching Fundations/Spelling, Mrs. Painter will be teaching Making Meaning, and Mrs. Shallenberger will be teaching Math. Some of the lessons might be review for our class. Since CCA is not administering tests; it is good practice. Other lessons are new. Keep up the good work, boys and girls!

IDR and Guided reading- How many hours of reading does my first grader read? You may read as many books as you want! In 1B; we use our iPads, and read the books on Epic online on Wednesdays-Fridays. This is 45 minutes of IDR a week. When we add our weekly guided group reading hours; it is another 40 minutes of reading. This is a total of approximately 85 minutes a week. If we add on the reading homework log; it totals to more minutes and hours. This is why 1B students are fantastic readers! "If we commit ourselves to reading thus increasing our knowledge, only God limits how far we can go in this world." -Ben Carson
