Create a poster depicting what you think the cover of the book should look like by using color to describe the book’s tone and mood and two major symbols from the work. Also, you will need to include the book’s title and author. Then create a one sentence catch phrase to persuade others to read this book. This project should be colorful and all elements should tie in together.
Things to remember:
1. This needs to be created 100% by you. We do not want book covers copied from the internet.
2. It is highly recommended that you draw/trace the symbols instead of using pictures off the internet.
3. Symbols are objects that represent bigger/deeper ideas. Think deep about the symbols you choose. Think about who your characters are, what happens to them, etc. For example, hearts symbolize love, crosses symbolize religion, skull and cross bones represent death. In Hunger Games, a major symbol is the mocking jay. It is a symbol for rebellion, courage, and strength. In Harry Potter, a major symbol is his lightning bolt. It represents love, darkness, sacrifice. These examples are cliches, meaning they are overused and surface-level symbols, so think deeper about your book. Be original and creative. What are objects from the book that symbolize characters, events, themes, etc. of the book?
4. Your catch phrase has to be 100% created by you. It needs to be short and simple, but interesting and grammatically correct.
