TRAINING

Bushcraft

Most units conduct classroom training in bushcraft and fieldcraft skills, and hold regular Basic and Advanced bushcraft camps in the local area during weekends to confirm all all lessons taught.

Shooting

Units conduct regular range training with small bore rifles (.22). Some units have their own armouries and ranges at their parade hall. Cadets must pass a DFTT (Dry Firing Training Test) before being allowed on the range. The rifle used at present is the Marlin XT (to be replaced in the future).

Important Note: As our local range is no longer available for us to use, weekend trips to the City of Napier and Ruahine Cadet Units will now be conducted to make this opportunity available to our cadets.
