HOW TO JOIN

Are you eligible?

Any person between the ages of 13 and 15 years may join the NZCF. The full consent of parents or guardians is required to apply,

and while under the age of 18 parental consent is required for all training and exercises undertaken.

A person younger than 13 may join if presently attending Year 9 at a New Zealand Secondary School.

The City of Gisborne Cadet Unit charges a Fee of $80 to cover the uniform and equipment issued to potential cadets.

Participating in unit exercises may incur extra charges, although any costs outside of government funding are often subsidised by the Unit Support Committee

NZCF personnel are not subjected to the Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971, and hence cannot be deployed into active service.

Important Note:  Because we are governed by the New Zealand Defence Force and mirror their image, all potential recruits  while attending all parades, activities and camps, WILL meet the appropriate standards of joining (Non-negotiable).

These are a few important ones to make a good first impression. Everything else will be taught to the cadets during a Code of Conduct Lesson.
