Publication & Yearbook Expectations

Due to the nature of this course, students are expected to take on different leadership roles in a publication setting. These responsibilities contribute significantly to theme selection, page layout and design, decision-making, and fostering collaboration among peers. In addition to honing individual skills, the class will work collectively towards a common goal: to produce a memorable yearbook for the current academic year where the High School is celebrated for living CAC's core values.

Help nurture a community of professionals by being caring and empathetic contributors.
Foster the necessity of teamwork to meet deadlines in positive ways.
Consider assertiveness, responsibility and communications skills in working with peers, staff and members of CAC's community.
Learn to recognize, create, edit, and produce well-composed and high-quality photos that tell meaningful and appropriate CAC's stories.
Develop aesthetic sense to recognize and create balanced layouts which incorporate the elements of design in a balanced way.
Use critical thinking in the practice of responsible and ethical journalism.
Demonstrate techniques that effectively use the design elements and principles of art to meet professional publishing standards.
Apply research skills such as: interviewing, listening, and note-taking abilities in order to build important stories that live the CAC spirit.
Develop an awareness of the requirements for a career path in publishing.
