Yes, these are education accounts with no advertising or mining of data permitted. Google Workspace is GDPR compliant. The C2k Privacy Notice is available on My-School Homepage (top right). Users are responsible for use of the tools in line with GDPR requirements. c2k recommends that two or more members of staff should be added to a class when setting up. This means if the lead teacher is absent, another member of staff can still access the Google Classroom.
Yes, as with email, if pupils know C2k users’ usernames or external email addresses they can collaborate via a shared Google Doc or Slides presentation for example. (Users cannot search for usernames/email address.) Acceptable Google Workspace use should be covered in Online Safety Classes and in school ICT, Internet Use and Data Protection Policies.
Pupils cannot create Classes in Google Classroom or Shared Drives or initiate Google Meets with C2k accounts.
Yes, this is to support Shared Education and Entitlement Framework classes as well as foreign exchange links and projects such as Young Enterprise.
Users can only join a class if a member of the class shares the class code or link.
The class code (which is only displayed for teachers) should be disabled once all members have joined. (There is no searchable list of classes or codes and the class code can be enabled or reset at any time.)
If teachers do not wish to use the code, they can search for individual students by username (jbloggs123@c2ken.net format) and enrol them in Classes.
