Classroom Behavior Policies
Our goal is to create a classroom where students feel safe, respected, responsible, and ready to learn. We use positive reinforcement and teach students strategies for solving conflicts independently.
⭐ Positive Reinforcement: LEADERS Tickets
Students can earn LEADERS tickets when they demonstrate our school’s core values:
L — Leadership: Lead by example and encourage others.
E — Excellence: Try your best and continue to grow.
A — Accountability: Take responsibility for your choices and actions.
D — Discovery: Be curious, creative, and open to learning.
E — Engagement: Participate and be an active member of our community.
R — Respect: Treat yourself and others with kindness and respect.
S — Service: Help others and take care of our school community.
🤝 Conflict Resolution
Students will be taught to work through small conflicts independently using these 5 steps:
Ignore: If someone is bothering you, try not to react. For example, ignore teasing or an annoying behavior.
Walk Away: If the behavior continues, calmly move to another area or join a different activity.
Ask Nicely: Politely ask the person to stop. “Please stop. I don’t like that.”
Tell Firmly: If it continues, use a clear, confident voice. “I asked you to stop. Please leave me alone.”
Get an Adult: If the problem continues or someone is unsafe, tell a teacher or trusted adult.
We will always encourage students to get an adult right away if someone is hurt, unsafe, or unable to solve the problem using these steps.
📩 Incidents
If a significant behavior incident occurs during the school day, families will be notified by email or phone call.
The student may also complete a Think Sheet to reflect on what happened, identify better choices, and make a plan for next time. Think Sheets will be sent home for families to discuss and sign.
