Hello Families,
Please remember to check your child’s homework folder often so you don’t miss any important updates or papers!
At the beginning of the year, we’ll be working on:
Handwriting
Blending sounds, spelling patterns, and dictation
Reviewing reading comprehension skills from first grade
Writing strong sentences, which will help us write paragraphs later on!
In grammar, we’ll learn about:
Adjectives, verbs, and nouns (both proper and common)
We’ll even have a fun poetry unit!
In math, we’ll start with:
Addition and subtraction facts within 20
Telling time
A unit all about money
In science, we’ll explore lots of exciting topics—and at the end of the year, we’ll create an insect diorama, which is always a favorite!
In social studies, we’ll learn about different communities and the important roles people play in them.
It’s going to be a great year of learning!
