Classroom Behavior Policies

In second grade, we emphasize the PRIDE standards of behavior - Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Empathy. We also frequently discuss safety and hold students accountable for acting in ways that keep everyone safe. 

We set routines and habits for good behavior and practice them often! When students know exactly what to expect and what they should be doing, it makes it that much easier for them to do the right thing. We give positive rewards, like PRIDE tickets, to students who are going above and beyond in those PRIDE attributes. When students struggle to make a correct choice, we ask them to take a break. If the behavior continues, or it is a bigger deal like physical contact, they will be given an opportunity to reflect on their choices and have a restorative conversation with myself and if any other student was involved, them as well. We also use Class Dojo!
